Boot failure - drop to initramfs
I'm having my fresh Ubuntu install fail on me. Installation completes normally but on the first boot I'm left with blank screen (it appears like a boot screen). Upon reboot, I am presented with GRUB and when I try to boot from the "Ubuntu" option, I get a message as
Gave up waiting for root device. [...]
ALERT! [...UUID...] device does not exist. Dropping to a shell.
I have already checked that the UUID mentioned above is the one I get from the terminal ( can't recall the command that gives the UUID of devices).
I have tried replacing UUID by /dev/sda1
I have tried reiinstalling.
I have tried fsck
I have tried installing another distro (SolusOS, LMDE) BOTH work and boot just fine. If I try to install Ubuntu again, everything fails.
Any ideas?!
